Today’s learning tasks are based on our integrated topic “Under the Spotlight”.

Reading fluency (15-30 mins):

  1. Read to self or read to someone (pet, doll, teddy, younger sibling…).

Learning Intention: We are learning to read a text and answer comprehension questions

Success Criteria:

  • I can read the questions carefully so I understand what I need to find out
  • I can read the text carefully
  • I can write my answers in full sentences.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artist Study

Read the article “Sally Gabori”.  Answer the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artist Comprehension questions. 


Learning Intention:

We are learning to write a letter to a celebrity 

Success Criteria:

  • I can include an introduction (why are you writing the letter?)
  • I can include 2 main body paragraphs with topics (including questions to the celebrity)
  • I can include a short conclusion

Independent Writing Task:

Write a Letter to a Famous Person

Write a letter to a celebrity in one of the performing arts (famous actor, singer, musician etc). 

What would you want to tell them or ask them?

Remember the structure of letter writing (introduction, 2 paragraphs with different topics, conclusion).


Counting pattern fluency (10 minutes): 

Practice quick recall of your assigned multiplication goal. Practice your skip counting pattern or times tables out of order.

Learning Intention:

We are learning to create a timeline of dates.

Success Criteria:

  • I can identify important dates
  • I can draw a neat timeline

Independent Learning Task:

Timeline

Using the provided information sheet, create a timeline of the history of Ballet.

Rule a neat line and add the important dates and events in order from earliest to latest. Don’t forget to give your timeline a title.


Learn a New Skill

Learn a new dance, drama or music skill. Perfect it. Record it.

 

Design a Costume

Design a costume for your chosen performing arts topic (dance, drama, music). Draw it in detail. Make sure to include labels to show what you have included. Give it a title and write a couple of sentences about your design.

 

Illustrator

Draw a detailed picture showing the elements of the performing arts of your choice.

 

Make an iMovie

Using iMovie or another movie making app, make a movie about your chosen topic. It can be a fictional movie or you could make a documentary. The choice is yours!

 

Create a School!

Create a dance, drama, music or media school. What is it called? What does it look like? Create some teacher profiles! What classes do they run? Create a timetable of all the classes available.

1. Choose one of the following problems:
– You have an argument with a friend.
– You accidentally broke something valuable at home.
– You see someone being bullied.

2. Write the problem in the middle (on the roundabout)
3. Write a possible solution to the problem along each road.
4. Write a positive and negative of each possible solution in the boxes.
5. Circle the solution you would most likely choose first.

Use Ella & the Ocean or choose your favourite fiction book from your book shelf at home, or choose a fiction book from Wushka and complete the Fiction Book Review posted on Seesaw.

You can either complete the book review using your editing tools on Seesaw, by printing the sheet or by using the sheet as a template and completing the book review in you homework book.

This week we are beginning to write an information report about a platypus.

Write down everything you already know about a Platypus.

This could include any facts you know, words associated with it, pictures etc. Fill a page with information.


Counting pattern fluency (10 minutes): 

Practice your multiplication facts. If you have mastered your counting goal, pick a new number to learn!

We are learning to tell the time on digital and analogue clocks

Success Criteria:

  • I can tell the time to the minute

Complete the following IXL activity practicing the skills you have learnt to tell the time.
