Reading fluency (15-30 mins):

  1. Read to self or read to someone (pet, doll, teddy, younger sibling…).
  2. Choose a good fit book or Wushka text https://wushka.com.au/login/

  • I can think about the characters, setting, problem, solution when comparing genres

Read your assigned Realistic Fiction text on Wushka.

Using a Venn Diagram (you can draw one in your book), find the similarities (middle section) and differences (outside sections) of FANTASY FICTION and REALISTIC MODERN FICTION.

Include at least one example about the characters, setting, problem and language choices.

Independent Task: Sound in polysyllabic words

  1. Say the word
  2. Draw syllable lines

  4. Write letters on sound lines

Complete the Sentence a Day worksheet on Seesaw or in your homework book making sure all of your sentences are complex and include descriptive language. Choose 4 pictures to complete.

 


 


Counting pattern fluency (10 minutes): 

Practise quick recall of addition and subtraction facts. Roll a dice twice and add the numbers together. How many can you do in 1 minute? OR IXL Year 3 I1 Addition and Subtraction Facts

Learning Intention:

We are learning to match equivalent (equal) addition and subtraction problems.

Success Criteria:

  • I can complete addition and subtraction algorithms
  • I can match two equal number sentences.

Independent Learning Task:

Equivalent addition and subtraction number sentences.

Complete the worksheet (also posted on Seesaw activities) and submit to your teacher. You may try either the enabling or extending task.

Find the answer to each of the addition and subtraction number sentences and match them to the one that has the same value.
