Reading fluency 10 – 15 min
Practice reading your books from your reader cover.  Read aloud, read to yourself, even try recording your reading on a device.

Reading Activity 20-30 min

Learning Intention: We are learning to identify the main idea in a story.

Success Criteria: I can draw a picture and write a sentence or talk about the main idea in the story.

  • Listen to the book week book with your parent.
  • Before Listening, talk about what you think this story may be about using the information from the front cover.
  • After listening to the story talk about what happened in the story.
  • Draw and discuss the main idea in the story.
  • Write a sentence to match or record a short video explaining the main idea.

Success Criteria:

  • I can think about the size of my writing.
  • I can start each letter in the correct staring position.
  • I can use the lines (if using the paper provided) to assist with the position and size of letters.

Select a range of sight words that you have been reading this week (Beginning Sight Words or Oxford Word List) Write these words onto your lined paper. Use the alphabet photos to help with the correct formation of your letters including starting the letter in the correct position and thinking about the overall size of each letter.
