Reading fluency (15-30 mins):

  1. Read to self or read to someone (pet, doll, teddy, younger sibling…).

  • I can think about the characters, setting, problem, solution when comparing genres

Tune in:

Read your assigned Mystery text on Wushka.

Using a Venn Diagram (you can draw one in your book), find the similarities (middle section) and differences (outside sections) of FANTASY FICTION and MYSTERY FICTION.

Include at least one example about the characters, setting, problem and language choices.

Revising Sentences

Take your notebook outside and look around you.  What do you see, hear, feel? 

Is there an image you can describe? Can you describe the setting?

Write down 5 sentences describing what you notice.

Once you have written 5 sentences, choose 3 to revise and rewrite.

How can you improve your sentences to engage the reader? Can you make them more complex? Can you uplevel your descriptive words?

Complete your writing in your homework book.


Counting pattern fluency (10 minutes): 

Practise quick recall of addition and subtraction facts. Roll a dice twice and add the numbers together. How many can you do in 1 minute? OR IXL Year 3 I1 Addition and Subtraction Facts

  • I can understand the link between addition and subtraction
  • I can understand that addition and subtraction are the opposite and use this to solve problems
