Independent Reading 15 mins:

  • Read a reader from your Take Home Book Bag
  • Read your Speed Read Sheet x 2 (Cathy and Elisa’s Sounds Write group)
  • Play the /ae/ Snakes and Ladders Game to practise words. (Jane’s Sounds Write Group).

Wushka Online texts  30 mins:

  • Sign into Wushka https://wushka.com.au/login
  • Select a book from the highest level you have access to.
  • Read 2 books and answer the questions related to the books. (The children must answer these questions without any assistance.)

Read to Parent 10 mins:

  • Read to your parent and talk about the important events in the book. See if you can talk about them in order.

Information Report – diagram and labelling

Year One:

  1. Draw a picture of your pet or an animal that you are familiar with.
  2. Label at least 6 features of your pet. (See the example below).

Year Two:

  1. Draw a picture of your pet or an animal that you are familiar with.
  2. Label at least 6 features of your pet. Make sure that each body part label has a naming word as well as a describing word (adjective). Eg: soft fur. (See the example below).

Independent Task: Time

  1. Watch the video of ‘The bad-tempered ladybird’.
  2. Watch the video a second time and pause the video when the times are mentioned so you can draw them on to  your clock faces sheet. Parents, please cover the small drawing of the clock with your hand each time your child tries to record the time on their blank clock face page. Then uncover the drawing and get your child to check their time matches. The child can then change their time  if needed.

Watch the video a second time. This time, think about:

P = all the positive things that happen on a farm.

M = all the difficult things that happen on a farm.

I = what questions do you have about living and working on a farm.
