📚Reading📚

Independent Reading 15 mins:

  • Read a reader from your Take Home Book Bag
  • Read your Speed Read Sheet x 2 (Cathy and Elisa’s Sounds Write group)
  • Play the /ae/ Snakes and Ladders Game to practise words. (Jane’s Sounds Write Group).

Wushka Online texts  30 mins:

  • Sign into Wushka https://wushka.com.au/login
  • Select a book from the highest level you have access to.
  • Read 2 books and answer the questions related to the books. (The children must answer these questions without any assistance.)

Read to Parent 10 mins:

  • Read to your parent and talk about the important events in the book. See if you can talk about them in order.

Webex 10.30 am 

Literacy focus: Teacher to read a story. Retell (How character acts, feels, their dialogue)

This is also time for your child to check in, say hello to their classmates and ask any questions about the activities for the day.

Choose a writing task from the grid above.

Please use the lined paper provided. Write the date at the top of your page. When finished you can draw a picture to match. 

Year One – As a guide aim for your child to write roughly 1 page if they are grade 1, depending on the type of writing task.

Year Two – As a guide aim for your child to write roughly 2 pages if they are grade 2, depending on the type of writing task.

Year One – PDF – clock faces – draw o’clock times and half past times. Write the matching digital time underneath.

Year Two – PDF – clock faces – draw o’clock times and half past times. Write the matching digital time underneath. Challenge – can you also draw some quarter past times and write the matching digital time?

Spelling Sounds~Write words (20 minutes)

Watch Mrs Barling’s Sounds~Write Spelling video. 

Use your current Sounds~Write Speed Read sheet:

  • Initial code – ‘steps’ sheet
  • Extended Code –  /ae/ Snakes & Ladders
  1. Read the word carefully – ‘say the sounds and read the word’.
  2. Cover the word.
  3. Carefully ‘say the sounds and write the word’. 
  4. Check carefully that you have written the word correctly.
  5. If correct, go to the next word. If incorrect, go back and try to write the word again.
  6. Complete as many words as you can in 20 minutes but remember to write neatly.

Time: Pre-test Activity (Year One and Two)

Without any help and no looking at a clock, draw a clock, showing what you understand about their features. 

Parents are not to assist with this activity as it is a pre-test. 

Show the time that you go to bed on your clock. Can you also write the digital time to match the analogue (clock face) time? 

Please send a photo of your clock to your teacher.
