Write a persuasive piece of writing for a special person. Think of many reasons why this person is the best. When you are finished draw a picture of you and your special person.

Write an acrostic poem for a special person in your life. It could be your dad, mum or someone else. Write the word FATHER, MOTHER, GRANDFATHER or name of your special person down the side of the page and choose a word starting with each letter that describes your special person.

Prep- Complete your weekend writing with the sentence starter:
‘On the weekend I …’ (write on the lined paper provided in your reader cover)
Grade 1- (and anyone that wants to have a try)- Use the sentence starter ‘On the weekend’ to begin your writing.
Write about what you did on the weekend in order. (write on the lined paper provided in your reader cover)
Use capital letters at the beginning of each sentence. Make sure your sentences end with a full stop. Include some keywords at the beginning of each sentence such as, Next, Then, After, Finally.

Success Criteria:
- I can think about the size of my writing.
- I can start each letter in the correct staring position.
- I can use the lines (if using the paper provided) to assist with the position and size of letters.
Handwriting- Writing sight words
Select a range of sight words that you have been reading this week (Beginning Sight Words or Oxford Word List) Write these words onto your lined paper. Use the alphabet photos to help with the correct formation of your letters including starting the letter in the correct position and thinking about the overall size of each letter.
