G.E.M/Big Life

Hello wonderful 5/6s! Welcome to Big life for this week!
We will be learning:
– What happens in our brains when we are feeling strong emotions
– What stress is and what can make us feel stressed
– How to recognise when we are feeling stressed
– How to calm ourselves down

Part 2
In this second video about stress management, Bec is going to help us understand what stress feels like in our body and why we need to calm ourselves down. She will then guide you through a short meditation to help you practise a calming strategy. For those who want to extend themselves, we invite you to write a creative story about a stressful day.
Part 1
In this first video, Melanie will show a clip that explains what happens in our brains when we are overcome with strong emotions. She will then talk about stress, and what sorts of situations might make us feel stressed.
Afterwards, you will complete the ‘Sources of Stress’ brainstorm (attached to this post). You will be brainstorming some situations that might make someone feel stressed in the playground, at home, in class, on a sports ground or in their
neighbourhood.
